This fantastic new tour is based in the historic Basque country and La Rioja, the famous Spanish wine region. A four day/three night trip on the La Robla narrow-gauge railway provides the highlight of this tour.
Travelling from Bilbao to Oviedo and back to Bilbao, the train will stop along the route for visits to places of interest including Santander, Arriondas for the Sanctuary of Covadonga and the National Park of the Picos de Europa, Oviedo for the Asturian pre-Romanesque Art and city tour and Cabezon de La Sal for the Altamira Museum and Santillana del Mar. The La Robla train enables you to relax and enjoy the passing scenery and also stops overnight for you to sample local restaurants and sleep.
Other highlights of the tour inlclude Bilbao, Burgos with its historic architecture and gothic cathedral dating from 1221, the fascinating and elegant city of Vitoria Gasteiz, Haro, a small but busy wine town home to some of the great bodegas of La Rioja, and also Najera and Laguardia.
