Highlights include Metz, the region's capital, and Nancy, its historic capital, transformed in the 18th century by deposed Polish King, Stanislas Leszcynski and later at the turn of the 10th century with major Art Nouveau additions.
This wonderful tour also visits Luxembourg City, which enjoys a magnificent setting on top of a sandstone outcrop. Sights here include the lively Place d'Armes, Chemin de la Corniche that offers wonderful views and Casemates du Bock, an 18th century defensive labyrinth under the city. Finally, we visit the amazing Maginot Line fortress of Hackenberg, built in the 2nd World War and head in to Germany's oldest city, Trier.
New for 2012 - in response to feedback from many customers - we have now added an option for a 6 night/7day option on selected dates, which provides a free day in the middle of the itinerary to explore Metz at your own leisure.
